B.S. Information Systems Management
U of MD did not offer a B.S. in Computer Science in 1964 when I started there. I took all the CS courses I could to make my own version. While in college I worked in the Counseling Center Data Processing Department and the Administrative Data Processing Center, processing student data for studies and student grades statistics. I developed utility programs and operating system programs.
My higher education after that was to become a Private Pilot with Instrument Rating.
Career
I joined Honeywell Federal Systems in Arlington, VA for a year and then transferred to Honeywell COBOL compiler development in Waltham, Massachusetts. Next, I worked for years on network development in Billerica where I was made a Honeywell Engineering Fellow. Then I worked on data modeling.
Later I had my own company, Strassberger Software Training, Inc. I wrote a short book about C++ Programming using MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes) for Deitel and Associates. I updated and taught programming courses for various training companies, such as Hands On Technology Transfer (HOTT).
I bought my own private airplane, Piper Turbo Arrow N47912, which I flew around the country to my computer programming training assignments. I consulted for the Teletype Pocket PC Aviation GPS product, adding Victor Airways support for flight plans and Turn Anticipation for GPS navigation. I also showed the programmer how to add a VASI light simulation and Glide Slope simulation that was more precise than the certified device in the instrument panel.
